Don’t we all say that? “Lord, I love you, and I’ll follow you wherever you go.” It sounds good at first, and we actually mean it.
2 Peter 2:20-22 comes to mind as well as Hebrews 6:6.
The gay movement comes to mind. Were they ever really plowing straight to begin with?
Hello Brandon, you are right, we need to look forward and keep our eyes on Jesus as Matthew says 6 says 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
I have been stricken since a year ago by a very hurting situation that happened to me and has affected me tremendously, this awful sutuation hit me with great anxiety, fear, sadness, gloom, lack of self esteem, confidence, I cried everyday to God, called upon Jesus for desperate help because this wasn’t me, and to top it off, in July this year, I had a bad car accident, someone hit me, I had a concossiun and cervical sprain and my car was a total loss, this was awful…I am just getting better with my health, through this situation a friend gave me a reference of a christian group that holds meetings to help people with all kind of personal problems based the Bible study therapy, so I started to attend twice a week and I am starting to heal my spiritual wounds as I draw close to God…it is not easy, but God’s ways are not our or the world’s ways, I have no car yet as cars are very expensive new or used. In Quebec it is very bad, prices keep increasing daily we can hardly gi though, I still have to wor, but God has his own view and thoughts on all our lives, through all this, my flesh body was hurt but my spiritual soul was lifted out of the darkness that was carrying me astray from God, Jesus my Savior, through my cries of help he rescued me and now I feel like being truly born in my spirit and I just want to cling to him, truly know him and learn how to follow him and obey him and put all my trust, my faith, my life and my family into his healings hands…through the car accident he woke me up and said follow me…it is not easy, the race is tight but I know that Jesus always carries us through no matter what, may his will be done in each one of our lives and in the world, may his kingdom come and his will be done on earth as it is done in heaven as we appoach his second coming…
One thing that worries me, Jesus said in Luke 18:6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
The last sentence this is a question that is constantly in my mind…what do you think about Jesus’ question…shall he find faith on the earth at his coming?
Thank you Brandon…may God our Heavenly Father draw us all his elect closer to Him and may each of us cling to him and never let go…may we truly seek his kingdom first as we approach his second coming… oh! Shall we be found with that special unshakable faith and a humble heart…amen amen amen
I have to ask, what does “looking back” actually mean? To never sin again? To never be tempted again? To never have a single thought that is wrong? If so, it would mute Galatians 6:1.
Could it mean, similar to Acts 3:19, to turn back. To deny the truth you now know. I dont much care for the term “backslid” as its intention has never been that one turned his back completely to God, denying the word. Im leaning to a better comparison for turning back is divorce.
To me, it means you want the things of the Lord but are focused on the worldly things and make them more important. Just as Christ said, let the dead bury the dead. I would think there are different degrees of looking back.
Being raised on a farm, the crooked plow row, from not looking straight ahead makes the next phase more difficult, dad wasn’t pleased all the time.
You bring up an excellent verse. We are to rebuke the sinner, in a Christian way, not go along and say nothing, lest we be enticed to sin also. If we hang around sinful people and actions, the odds of it taking hold are greater if we don’t apply Galatians 6:1.
I think of smokers etc. I would bet most started because their friends or family did first, and they were introduced that way and over time they did too. I don’t know of anybody who got out of bed one day and said to themselves, I think I will try smoking.
Is 43:18 Do not dwell on the past, forget the former things. See I am doing a new thing.
Phil 3:13 But one thing I do: Forgeting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.
