Has anyone had trouble with a new Frigidaire product and the customer service nonsense?
I’m sorry these have not reached to Spain yet
Don’t have one buddy sorry.
What did you encounter with customer service?
Our fridge went down Mid-February. It was only 7-8 months old.
We had to wait 3 weeks for a tech assigned from Frigidaire customer service, which is farmed out to another company. They contact the service companies.
He (Sears) condemned one of the circuit boards. Board was shipped directly to us, and we waited another 3 weeks for the tech to return for installation. The same problem existed after the part was installed.
I told him we needed to ohm the wires from the board to the unit which checked out. He then condemned the mother board. Waited another scheduled 2 weeks for the tech to return and he was a no show. I installed the board myself, same problem with more error messages.
By this time, we are on the phone with customer service every other day and they read from a script, which in laymen’s terms is, lie. Expedite = 3 weeks. I told them I wanted to talk to their tech support team because they have a board problem, being retired from Air Conditioning, I had some experience. They said there was no one in tech support which is BS since all companies can call in to the tech team with on-the-job problems that they can’t diagnose. We didn’t want to wait another 3 weeks and have another bad board. I told them I wanted to talk to the next tech before he comes out because it could be a waste of his time using the same lot # mother board.
A week later, we received a call from another repair company and this guy seemed pretty sharp. He wanted all the numbers off the unit, and he ordered more boards. He came about 2 weeks later with all the boards the unit uses. (6) Not to waste his time.
He installed all the boards and still the same problem. He called the tech support at the factory, which you know doesn’t exist and they said we will receive a call from Frigidaire to buy us out.
Frigidaire has a board issue where they will not communicate with one another, and the units lock out. They have no clue why and don’t know what to do about it. This came from the support team at the factory. Meanwhile, all the people are stuck, and they are not taking care of their customers.
We have been in contact with customer service numerous times and get different answers. One says they will buy you out, another says that means they will give you another fridge. One person told us our repair number was never in the system. One tried to sell us an extended warranty even though they can’t fix the unit.
We are fortunate to have a small fridge in the garage for the basics, but some do not have the space of funds for a backup. One guy on Facebook, out of frustration, drug his outside and set it on fire.
Meanwhile, yesterday, we bought another fridge from the recommendation of the last tech, and he told me he has seen more of the same from Frigidaire. When he installs a small board for a minor problem, the whole unit locks out and can’t be reset and tech support has no answers.
Our next move seems to be through an attorney to recoup our investment.
Wow, that’s unbelievable! So much junk is sold these days it just kills me. I’ll tell the kids, and then everyone complains about pollution and what not, but we make throw away products.
By the way, you couldn’t just take it back to the store, no warranty?
That’s the problem. With the throw away world, many areas don’t have an appliance store like the ones that were around years ago. With Lowe’s, Home Depot, Best Buy, they went out of business.
We did have an extended warranty, but that never got started since it was under the 1st year from the manufacturer. Maybe we could have gotten a replacement from the extended but that was mute being only 7-8 months old. We were able to cancel it.
One thing that crossed my mind was the fact that there is a good chance these boards came from China. I think it is very peculiar that all of a sudden, the new boards and the ones in the units start failing.
Makes we wonder if there wasn’t a glitch manufactured in like those that they found in the utility transformers etc.
