Brandon, I am somewhat confused about the resurrection. Specifically, what happens to our consciousness between death of our physical body, and the resurrection at our Lord’s 2nd coming.

I have seen several explanations for this, including Brandons. I am going to try to answer this according to the Scriptures as I understand them. This may very well surprise and comfort you! If you do not understand this, after I have finished, Pleased PRAY and ask the Lord to open the eyes of your understanding. (“Flesh and blood hath not revealed this unto you…” Matt. 16:17, Matt. 13:10-11, Luke 24:45, Eph. 1:16-23, 1st Cor. 2:14-16, “…to show unto HIS SERVANTS…!” Rev. 1:1-3, Isiah 55:11, John 8:31-32, Amos 3:7, 2nd Cor. 4:1-17-18, 1st Thess. 5:1, etc.).

Rev. 4:1 tells John to “Come up hither!”. Rev. 1:9 tells us John was IN Tribulation and IN the Kingdom. Rev. 1:6 tell us “we have been made kings and priests!”. So here, I am going to ask you to look at this through a “Come up HITHER!” Perspective among “Them that DWELL IN HEAVEN!”( Rev. 11:6-10, Col. 1:13, Eph. 2:6, Hebrews 12:22-24, Rev. 21:9-11, John 17:18-20, 17:14-15, Rev. 22:17).

Read the same verses Brandon showed you also, But also consider when the 1st Resurrection happened! John 6:3-10, Gal. 2:20, 1st Peter 1:23-25, John 11:25-26, “As the ANGELS in Heaven” Matt. 22:30, “See thou do it not, for I am thy…!” Rev. 22:9, The ANGEL is John fellow servant, “…and unto an INNUMERABLE COMPANY OF ANGELS!” Hebrews 12:22-24. "In the twinkling of an eye we are CHANGED! Because FLESH and blood cannot inherit the Kingdon, however, our “NEW CREATION”< "Born Again, of the Spirit man already has! This flesh is just a temporary tent. There are many more Scriptures which support this.

IF you read John 20:17-29 carefully you will find that Jesus Christ already ASCENDED and RETURNED the 2nd Time! He has promised to NEVER LEAVE, therefore He cannot RETURN AGAIN if HE NEVER LEAVES! Hebrews 13:5, Matt. 28:20. 2nd Cor. 13:5

Unfortunately, there are many false teachings out there with teach that these things are not the truth, and contradict themselves. What does JESUS CHRIST PROMISE? Can He RETURN if He NEVER LEAVES? I could comment more on these things if you like.
I also meant to include Hebrews 13:2! There are many Scriptures about being Born again and ANGELS! I do not think many people understand or recognize their “Identities” as much as they should because of misleading teachings, and they actually do not really believe what many of the Scriptures teach About a BELIEVER! “Bless the Lord all ye His ANGELS who excel in strenghth HARKENING to the Voice of HIS WORD!” Psalms 103:20-22, "Are they not all ministering spirits, SENT (John 17:18-20-26, Hebrews 12;22-24, Rev. 21:9-11, Rev. 22:17) forth…? Hebrews 1:14, Are you seated in heavenly places IN CHRIST? Eph. 2:6

If this was true and Christ is still here, where is He? He is here spiritually, not physically.
Acts 1:9-11.
Also, document in history when all the prophecies have taken place that was shown to John. All the latter-day events. Satan ruling in Jerusalem.
John was taken into the future to show those things that must shortly come to pass, including the arrival of Christ and the defeat of Satan.
